| Do you ever wish that you could, just for a day, go to a point in your
life from the past? For some reason, I wish right now that I
could transport myself back to senior year at WPI, instead of sitting
here learning about ostertagiosis. I miss laying on the couch in
the apartment with Ryan, watching a movie and just hanging out. I
regret treating Ryan the way I did most of that year. I guess
it's true that you never really know what you had until it's not there
anymore, because I miss him an awful lot right now and he just left
from visiting me this morning. Never ever ever take someone you
love for granted, because usually its not until you don't have them
there with you every day that you realize how good they are to you and
how much you love them. I miss running across Highland over to
the AGD house to hang out and do nothing. I miss hanging out at
Vonda's and talking about everything under the sun with the smell of
laundry detergent and the sounds of the washer in the background.
I miss walking up to campus on a warm day and seeing all the OLs at the
fountain. I miss the Danish Dames and the fun times we had.
I miss knowing almost everyone on campus. I miss the admissions
office and open houses. I miss night at the Boynton after exec
council, or having dinner with Ryan using the points on my ID
card. I even miss our apartment being freezing in the winter and
having to stop at the heater in the living room to avoid freezing
somewhere between the bed and the shower in the morning. But
everything has to move on, and everything has to come to an end, and
now I'm doing something new. Not necessarily bad, just new and
different and sometimes I miss the comfort of the past. So I hope
you all out there know that I miss you an awful lot...

| At Carla's request...my update for you all is that I have no time to
update. I am 2.5 weeks into vet school, and we have one huge
anatomy test next Thursday that covers both the dog and horse thoracic
limbs (in more detail than you could ever know), and the week after
that we have three exams. I spend most of my time studying.
I have joined 5 different clubs, including surgery, emergency, shelter
med, zoological med, and SHARE (students for human-animal relationship
education) which includes doing Pet Hospice. I just started
playing intramural softball, and I will probably also be playing flag
football and ice hockey. I'm gone all this weekend in Keystone
for the Colorado Veterinary Medical Association Convention, which
doesn't give me much time to study anatomy.
Kittens are doing well (when I'm actually home to see them), Blossom
went back down with my parents because its not fair to her to be crated
for the 14-16 hours a day that I'm usually gone.
I'm going to bed now so I can get maybe 4 hours of sleep, which is
pretty much the norm now. Maybe more later, but don't count on
it. All you really need to know is despite the fact that things
are crazy and stressful, I love vet school and where I am in my life
right now.

| I adopted two kittens at the Buddy Center yesterday! They are
adorable. They had actually just been dropped off yesterday in
the early morning sometime, due to allergies of the people that owned
them. Their original names are Heath and Heather, but I will be
renaming them to Dublin and Shannon, after the cities in Ireland.
Dublin is a gray and white male, and Shannon is an orange tabby
female. They are about 5 months old and were supposedly
littermates. I get to pick them up on Friday after they are
spayed and neutered. I'm so excited! I picked up a bunch of
stuff for them today, and I will be taking them to my clinic for rabies
shots next week sometime. As soon as I get some pictures with
something besides my camera phone, I will post them!

| I had a wonderful time in Fort Collins today. So wonderful, in fact, that I didn't want to come home.
I really wish that I could stay up there, because the condo is so close
to being ready and it looks really nice. If I didn't have to work
the next seven days straight, maybe I would stay up there a few days.
I met probably around 8 other people in my class at lunch today.
They were so diverse and really friendly, outgoing people. It
made me really excited about starting school, not that I wasn't
already. Only one more month until I can move up there!
July 29th needs to come quickly.
Well, I'm off to look at the kitties up for adoption at the Buddy Center. Can't wait for that either!
P.S. Check out the new profile picture...it shows off my new(ish) haircut!

| I'm going to try to be a little better about posting so that hopefully
people in MA can see what I'm up to. A summary of the past
month...I have been working at the clinic usually 4-5 days a week, and
I'm very frequently up in Fort Collins at the new condo when I have
days off. I have spent over $2500 setting up the new condo,
including a new oak desk, office chair, dresser, dishes, sheets,
towels, rugs, curtains, etc etc etc. I'm really excited about it
because it's really coming together now. I wish I could live up
there now, but that would make it a 2 hour each way commute to work
instead of half an hour, so that won't be happening. My last day
of work will be July 29th, and hopefully I will be living up there
after that.
My life is basically boring. I work, I do laundry, I go to the
gym, I sleep, I shop for the condo, and I work on stuff at the
condo. I've been working on the weekends, so that makes it
difficult to see friends who work only during the week. I
recently got a new really nice mountain bike, so I've been trying to
ride at least within the city. Tomorrow I am going up to Fort
Collins to have lunch with a bunch of my classmates, which should be
exciting. (I had better enjoy my day off because after tomorrow I
have to work for 7 days straight without a day off!) It's really
cool that they set up a message board for
us so that we could arrange meetings like this. I sent in
membership forms for SCAVMA (Student Chapter of the American Veterinary
Medical Association) and CVMA (Colorado Veterinary Medical
Association), and because of this I will be attending the CVMA yearly
conference in Keystone in September without having to pay for it,
because local veterinarians sponsor students to go. I'm pretty
excited about this. I have a bunch of forms that need to be
filled out, and I signed away my life in student loans last week.
Other than that, I'm pretty much getting excited and counting down the
days until vet school starts. I can't wait. Ryan and I are
doing ok, trying to keep in touch and find times when we can see each
other. It's rough, but there's nothing that can be done about
it. Well, I must get organized for tomorrow...hopefully I will be
better about updating this thing!
